Sony S-Link vs. Sony S-Control Posted by Alan Maier[SysOp] on September 16, 1998 at 20:52:45: In Reply to: Sony S-Link vs. Sony S-Control posted by Charles Eichhorn on September 15, 1998 at 21:13:19: Charles, I own Sony components with both S control and S-link, and they are not the same. The S control is found on my VHS and SBeta VCRs, which allows interactive dubbing control between them (the VHS is a editing deck and can be a master or slave - the SBeta HiFi is only a slave). The S-link is a small ribbon cable that on my system connects my ES tuner to my ES preamp - allowing for remote operation with the preamp system remote (the tuner has no IR sensor). So from what I have seen, the S control seems to be found on their video products for the most part. My other ES components (CD player and analog cassette) do not have S-link so I can't say what possibilities might be there. Alan : Are these the same technology? Compatible?
