Mike

: 1) If I have only one opictal connection on the back of my receiver and I already am using it for my DVD hookup then what do I do if I want to hook up one of those sony CD changers with optical hookup.

You will have to use another digital connection for one of the sources.

: 2) In the above situation could I maybe move my DVD player to the Coax connection and put the CD player into the optical connection even though the optical connection has DVD/LD labeled on it??

Sure you can move the DVD player to a coax connection. Apart from phono and AC-3 RF inputs, the labelling of a source input on your receiver is irrelevant so long as you know which input is connected to which source.

: 3) Do I get better quality out of the optical or coax connection.

Usually no difference.

: 4) What's toslink??

Toslink = optical. Digital connections on consumer gear are in the format called S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format). They can either be electrical (otherwise known as coax) on an RCA type connector or optical (aka Toslink).
