choosing reciever Posted by Alan Maier[SysOp] [IP: 129.37.205.95] on December 26, 1998 at 20:49:00: In Reply to: choosing reciever posted by Kevin Rose on December 26, 1998 at 13:07:03: Kevin, The Bose Acoustimass cubes have a trait of revealing problems with the rest of the system - so that will seriously limit your receiver list. If you want AC-3 or AC-3 ready and good sound, see if you can still find a last-years model AC-3 ready Yamaha - they are discounted due to a model change and will drive your Bose well. Can you return the Bose? I don't hate or bash Bose like many people do, but you have your system "backwards" I feel. You need a good receiver (and need to pay for it) and you can do much better than the AM15 system for what you paid for them. Alan : Hi, : Im new to this so please bear with me. : I have purchased a Bose Acoustimass 15 (the one with the powered subwoofer) and I currently own a Sharp DVD player with Dolby Digital Decoder built in. : Im now looking for a reciever. I havent the slightest clue what to buy. I am considering either a Kenwood VR207 or VR205. What do I need to maximize the use of the Bose speaker system. Im looking to buy a farily cheap reciever now and a good one down the road. Any suggestions?? : Thanks and Merry Christmas. : Kevin Rose
