True dimensional sound

Has anyone used this passive device. A friend place this on my system last night for about 15 minutes..What a 15 min.pleasure. It opened up the soundstage and dynamic range. If you have used this passive device let me know. I'm also confused about statements 3TDS units would have to be purchased for 5.1. Any advice and any positive/negative experiences.
