master/slave sockets

Posted by Phil [IP: 212.40.5.72] on December 28, 1998 at 16:06:34:

Hi

I have an older Sony CD Player which has no IR controllable ON/OFF switch. And my old JVC Amplifier doesn't provide a socket for "slave" devices.
There are these Master/Slave sockets, where you can plug one master and several slave devices. When the master is turned on, all other devices are power supplied as well. Now my question: The Amplifier still needs some eletric power in standbye mode. Would the slave devices only turn on if the master needs a lot of electricity or would they always be supplied even if the master was only supplied a small amount of el. power?
thanks for your help.
