master/slave sockets Posted by Alan Maier[SysOp] [IP: 129.37.205.230] on December 28, 1998 at 20:59:45: In Reply to: master/slave sockets posted by Phil on December 28, 1998 at 16:06:34: Phil, If you are looking at a unit where by simply plugging the controlling device into a AC outlet on it, and it in turn powers up the entire system - the sensing outlet should have a sensitivity adjustment. I have such a unit from Radio Shack many years ago.. it has a always on outlet, a sensing outlet and 4 switched outlets. When a device as a receiver, television or even a clock radio that is connected, everything goes on. Also there are units such as the Panamax 1000+ which has a trigger power supply cord - you plug it into the switched outlet of your preamp or receiver, and it takes over. A pair of always on outlets are provided. Alan : Hi : I have an older Sony CD Player which has no IR controllable ON/OFF switch. And my old JVC Amplifier doesn't provide a socket for "slave" devices.
