I only have the manual for the Mark II to hand, but I think the procedure is the same:

1. Using a suitable implement, press the recessed MACRO button. MACRO should appear in the LCD display and "learn" should flash;

2. Press the macro button you wish to program - eg button 1 - now M1-00 should appear in the display indicating that you are programming button 1 and the number of steps recorded so far, which is 00;

3. Then key in the sequence of commands that you want the macro to execute. The 00 number should increase with each command and a timing indicator will also show, indicating the timing between steps - default is 0.5 sec I think;

4. When finished, depress the recessed macro button again;

5. Test the meacro by pressing the programmed button - 1 in the above case and then the PLAY key.

That should do it. If you would like a copy of the manual, the one for my mark I should be around somewhere, so I could photocopy it for you.
