: I have a Marantz 67SE CD Player. Can someone tell me why I have Optical and Coax connectors on this unit. I thought they were only for DVD and laserdisks ?

Any digital source (cd player, DSS receiver etc) can have digital outputs, though not all do.
Marantz are giving you the flexibility to connect your cd player to a digital preamp/processor with a digital connection, thus bypassing the digital to analogue converters (DAC's)in the CD player. Usually, though not always, the DAC's in the processor will be superior to those in the player and give you a better sound.

:My receiver only has one digital input connector so should I reserve this for when I buy a DVD player and use the analogue connection for my CD player ?

Well try connecting your CD player to it for now and see if it gives better results than the analogue outputs. Then when you buy a DVD player, connect it to the digital input instead, play a CD in it and see if it sounds better than your CD player. If it does, then use the DVD player for CD and DVD, if not then there are ways that you can route 2 digital outputs into one digital input.
