Can you return the Bose system for a refund? If you can - do it and buy something else. There is no reason to put up with this treatment. I once owned a LD player that had a problem in which the dealer nor the manufacturer would take care of - I sold the player to get it out of my sight!

Unfortunately you are there, and Bose is here in the US where I am. You are definitely at a disadvantage on this one. I truly wish you the best of luck.
