Kevin,

Harmon/Kardon receivers and amplifiers always seem to have more "ommph" than their power ratings would lead you to expect - your dead AVR20 is a good example of that. I feel if you were pleased with the power of your old H/K, the new one should have you covered as the audible difference is not that great between the two power ratings.

: I owned a avr20 for about a year and a half and was quite happy with it. It recently passed away, however, and I'm now looking for a new receiver with home theatre. I prefer harman kardon products and have about $650 to spend. I was looking at the avr35 but I am concerned with the lack of power. In the avr20 I believe I had 55 watts per channell and in the avr35 there is only 45 watts in stereo and 40 in surround. With the avr20 I could turn it up as loud as I wanted and still feel like I had a ways to go before it distorted. Do you think the avr35 will perform similarly? Any comments concerning the avr35 would be greatly appreciated.

: Thanks,
: Kevin
