However even a 10 year old CD player should not have background noise of its own. Does this happen with the surround sound turned off as well? I can say for sure that the speaker wire and satellite location aren't the cause - I am considering the receiver and the surround processor circuits as part of the problem as well but need to know more. Alan : Helping my brother with his HT: : At higher volumes, his Bose Acoutimass 6 front speakers are putting out a lot of "noise" under the sound. The "noise" varies with the cable station (some better, some worse) and the VCR tape being played. I've also noticed it, though not as obvious, when playing music cd's. I'm sure everything is properly connected. Any possible solutions? : 1. Can it be lousy source material? I have a satellite & dvd & I forget how bad cable and an old vcr can sound. His CD player is 10+ years old as well. : Any suggestions?
