DSD, new 5.1 format????

I have been reading a lot lately of Sony's and Philip's new Super Audio CD format called DSD (Direct Stream Digital) Will this format require a special decoder connected to our current audio system to obtain the 5.1 channel signal or will the decoding be built-in to the super-audio cd player?
