DSD, new 5.1 format????

So you are saying we could be ultimately looking at four, 5.1 channel audio formats:

DD - DVD, HDTV, DSB
DTS - CD, DVD
SACD - CD
DLP - CD and possibly DVD?

How are we as consumers supposed to purchase any new equipment right now, knowing that these four formats are out there with no industry standardization taking place? I think I might wait a year and see what comes of all this mess before I spend 5 or 6 G's on a new audio system.
