DSD, new 5.1 format????

I understand that SACD discs will be backwards compatible with current cd players, but in order to enjoy the 5.1 channel sound from a SACD a new player and processor will have to be purchased.

What compatibility issues will arise with the DVD-Audio format? Will the new DVD-AUDIO discs be able to be played on existing cd or dvd players, or in order to get any playback will one have to purchase a new DVD-AUDIO player and decoder?
