I think I may have the answer to the problem. I got the same AVR10 and it works fine. When I look at the back panel, there is something a little bit unusual: above the subwoofer out put, there are two sets of RCA inputs, labeled "main in" and :pre out". THese two pairs of input are linked together by linkers which look like car fuses (left to left, white color, right to right, red color). I also own a AVR 85, but it does not have that feature. After seeing your message, I did a experiment on that, and found that if you don't have these two pairs linked (from the pre-out to the main in), there is no sound from the front speakers, but the center channel and suround are not affected, and I think that is exactly what the problem on your receiver. So find a piece of speaker cable and link the pre-out to the main-in, and you will get the sound. I read your message last night and hope you still keep your receiver since it is an excellent one. I got mine for 105 from Ubid two months ago and like it.
