Coax Cables for Digital hook-up

Posted by Ken on September 23, 1998 at 11:19:20:

I am going to hook-up three digital components to my receiver. I have a LD player with digital outs (optical and coax) plus the AC-3 RF out, a CD player with digital outs (opt/coax), and a DVD player.

I believe I will wish to use the coax cables instead of the optical. What type of coax am I supposed to use? I heard that I was supposed to have 75 ohm cable, but is that for both audio and video, or just video? Can someone please explain what type of coax cable I must have to get the best results.

What cable do I use for the AC-3 RF out?
My LD has two audio analogue RCA jack outs, two digital outs (I presume for audio, since video is analogue), and a RF AC-3 out. That is a hell of a lot of audio outputs for one unit. Can someone please explain the difference. I know the analogue out is DPL; what about the digital out? It, too, must be DPL since I believe only the RF AC-3 is 5.1.

Please clarify these two issues!
