: How can you tell what has A1?
Any of the A1 equipment will be identified "S-Link A1"
I just got a S500D DVD player, and am in the market for a 50ES receiver and KV36XBR200 TV -- all new components.

: Will they all be A1? The 50ES is for sure and I am not sure if the 500 is or not. The 7700 and the C600, I know for sure do.The DVP7000 does not. A1 started in the Audio line and is now just making it into the Video line.

: I also have a Sony VCR that's older -- don't know the model off the top of my head. If that's not A1, I could have serious problems trying to hook it in, yes?
YES, Sorry to say,
:
: My goal is to mount the XBR TV and hide the rest of the components in a wall cabinet -- I guess that actually raises my final question:

: How long can the S-link cables be, and where can you get longer runs of them if special cabling or quality is required?
Any good cable will work and I have used S-Link cables up to 100'
