where to hook up subwoofer

My roomate just bought a JBL surround sound system. As we are hooking it up, we realized his stereo system does not have an input labeled subwoofer. We have two center, left rear, right rear, four fronts (2A and 2B). Which should we hook the subwoofer up to? Center? We were going to hook up the center and subwoofer to the center connection. Will ther be an explosion?
