Need receiver recommendations

I need to replace my reciever and would like advice in evaluating wattage,amps, etc. Background: I have two old JBL LS-6 floorstanding speakers that have been recently rebuilt. Each has a 12-inch woofer, two 3-inch mid-ranges and a 2-inch tweeter. I have no idea how much power I need to drive them well (I haven't had a good receiver in years). My listening area is 14x15 but one end is open to a dining room/kitchen. The ceiling is a cathedral ceiling that rises to 18ft. area.

I listen to all types of music--classic rock, blues, country, and classical. Eagles, Emmy lou Harris, Clapton, BBKing, Howling wolf, etc. I like a good defined bass and sweet highs (especially in soft passages--hearing Clapton's fingers gliding over guitar strings makes you feel like your are watching him in person).
I figure with the size of my speakers I'm going to need some power but I'm confused over wattage vs high current (and how much current is considered high?). Which really is more important to the sound qu
