Converting Sony DVD remote to universal remote

I have a Sony DVP-S7700 DVD player, which has a remote with a jog/shuttle ring. For each progressive turn clockwise, the player will go 2x, 4x, 8x, etc. (and the reverse for counter-clockwise; Slow1, Slow2, Pause, 2x backwards, etc.). I also have a Sony RM-AV2000 universal remote, which is really a neat device. However, I can't figure out how to translate the 7700's remote ring movements to the universal remote. Any ideas? Thanks.
