Brian,

Well I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I believe you could have a learning remote be programmed for the backward and forward notion of the shuttle knob. It would have to be a button, but press the button to be learned... then turn the knob a bit for a signal.

The bad news (oh ooooh). I have a RM-AV2000 remote and as I bet you know, the DVD segments on the touch panel are already filled up! Maybe you could re-program the forward/reverse scan segments - those that are flanking the play icon. This would shoot down the forward/reverse search - a bit of a problem.

I like the Sony remote, but once in a while there pops up a shortcoming that the Marantz can do.

Alan

: I have a Sony DVP-S7700 DVD player, which has a remote with a jog/shuttle ring. For each progressive turn clockwise, the player will go 2x, 4x, 8x, etc. (and the reverse for counter-clockwise; Slow1, Slow2, Pause, 2x backwards, etc.). I also have a Sony RM-AV2000 universal remote, which is really a neat device. However, I can't figure out how to translate the 7700's remote ring movements to the universal remote. Any ideas? Thanks.
