Since you have ordered the DVD player you would be better off with other options than to have a DVD player with volume control.

In my search for a DVD player, I never came across one that had a volume control. I had test driven a setup which had a Wadia CD transport, which had a volume control and was controlled by remote control. I do not recall the model number or the price as I was not interested in the CD transport then. I am just mentioning this here for the information.

: I've ordered the Toshiba 3109 dvd player, to be shipped in Feb. It has built in DD decoder with speaker and bass management features.

: I would like to run this straight to my 5 channel amp without any preamp involved.

: Does anyone know if I will be able to control the volume with this arrangement? Are there any dvd players currently available that have a volume control that controls the unit (as opposed to a volume control on a learning remote that would learn to control the preamp's volume control)?

: If I cannot control the volume with my direct to amp set up, can anyone make a suggestion other than getting a cheap dd ready receiver?
