: Looking to invest a small sum in a line conditioner, and was looking at Audio Power's Power Pack II, which is oh-so-basic, but looks like it'll do the trick without all the bells and whistles.

I can say that my research has led me to understand that the term "line conditioner" is misleading UNLESS you pay more than $1500 for the piece. Anything costing less and you are really getting a spike and surge protector and nothing more.

Look for Tice, Bybee, and Cinepro - they all have web pages which go into great detail about the science of line conditioning. I am not saying that they meet their claims but their prices are all above $1500. Therefore, I do believe that anything less will not do what they claim their units do.

Good Luck on the search!

We have a Panamax 1000 and it has worked fine. Cost was $199 as well. Just trying to steer you in a direction where you can decide for yourself after reading the materials offered by these three companies. Widescreen Review issue #30 has a great article on this subject as well.
