For those setting up their subs... Posted by Chris [IP: 130.111.72.58] on February 06, 1999 at 11:07:37 I noticed that a lot of people seem to have some trouble with positioning and properly adjusting the crossover and volume on their subwoofers. I have found that a lot of the time the boomyness and lack of good system integration is caused primarily by not correctly setting the subwoofer up -perhaps due to misleading advice, sometimes due to misleading specifications on main speakers, crossover points, etc. Most of the time a change in the sub positioning, or perhaps crossover/volume control points will result in a much smoother low-end response. I recently made a cd that has low frequency sine waves in descending order. This is terrific for selecting a crossover point on subwoofers, and blending the sub into the system -you can also see what sort of in-room low end response you're actually getting. This cd can help with sub positioning, and main speaker positioning, provided your main speakers are capable of substantial low freq. output. If you're interested, email me, and I'll explain more of the details. Price is $20 including shipping within the U.S. Happy Listening!
