Bulding HT room - should it have a door? Posted by Brion Frost [IP: 166.55.39.57] on February 06, 1999 at 13:10:37 I hope this isn't too stoopid of a question, but...... I'm starting to finish my basement, and one of the uses will be for a home theatre. I have two choices for the layout. I can finish off one huge multipurpose area which would include the HT, or do two seperate areas and make the HT a stand alone entity. I'm leaning towards the latter, which would mean a 12'6" X 23' X 7'8" room for the HT. Otherwise, I've got a HUGE area to fill and speaker placement problems. I'm wondering if I should actually have a door on this room. Having a wide, open doorway would make the room feel a little more open, but I'm wondering if closing the room with a door helps acoustics. Does sealing the room with a door have any acoustic benefits/drawbacks? Can the sub develop higher SPL in a sealed room? Are standing waves more of a problem? Thanks for any tips. Brion Frost
