I honestly don't know about the "characteristics, etc." about the material. All I know is from what I've seen in theaters.

I know there are a number of books around on building Home Theaters and such. I suggest web-searching or even visiting the Barnes & Noble bookstore site (www.barnsnadnoble.com?) and searching there for "Home Theater".

I'm sorry I can't give anything "deeper". Perhaps one of the other Gurus here can help you more...
