: Any hints?

First, call your local heating utility and get some INSULATION pumped into the walls and ceiling. Your WALLET will thank you in REDUCED heating/cooling bills!

Next, get DOUBLE-PANE WINDOWS installed, if the house doesn't already have them. If you can afford it, get VINYL WINDOWS along with VINYL SIDING. In the long run, your WALLET will thank you in REDUCED heating/cooling bills! Also, you'll notice IMMEDIATE NOISE "INSULATION" regarding EXTERNAL noise "pollution".

Fianlly, consider putting CURTAINS and similar "sound absorptive" on all your walls/ceiling to reduce sound "reflections" in your "stereo room".

That's my few bytes. :)

Ken
