Popping sounds from amp ... help! Posted by Ken Simmons [IP: 208.8.214.3] on February 11, 1999 at 22:31:06 In Reply to: Popping sounds from amp ... help! posted by L on February 11, 1999 at 03:46:06: : I've had my Technics SU-G95 (stereo:135Wx2, DPL:70Wx3+35Wx2) amp for a little over four years when I started getting popping sounds in DPL mode every time I turn the volume knob (even with no input from any source). Go to Radio Shack and get a can of aerosol "tuner/switch cleaner" (#64-4315, $7.99). Spritz a little cleaner into the volume control (pot or encoder), "work" the volume control over its' range a few times, then repeat the spritz/work cycle. I'll bet that's all you need. "Dirty" (or old) pots/switches are the prime source for unwanted "adjustment noise" in audio/video equipment. Spraying cleaner into those controls (volume, tone, rotary switces, etc.) is usually all yo need to "clean-up" your sound. :) Ken
