Ken,

Do you really want to absorb the reflections in a "stereo" room? In a surround sound room with well placed rears you may not want reflections, but doesn't good stereo actually require reflections for 3D placement? Suppose there is a sound that is intentionally out of phase between channels so that the direct sound cancels in the listening location. Wouldn't that sound be entirely missed if it couldn't reflect off rear and side walls? Am I just too low class an audiophile because I listen to music mixed this way?

I have put heavy drapes on the wall between my mains and I have heard that this helps with depth in the image. I haven't yet formed an opinion, but it seems to have helped. (Perhaps I just think it does because someone told me it would) I have one odd wall that does cause some unwanted reflections. What are some options for sopund absorbing material where curtains won't fit the bill? (SAF exists even for single people)

Scott

: Fianlly, consider putting CURTAINS and similar "sound absorptive" on all your walls/ceiling to reduce sound "reflections" in your "stereo room".

: That's my few bytes. :)
