You make a good point that these "high-end" systems don't have to break the bank as long as they are compatible with future stuff. I, however, was never in the market for separates when I began to build my system and fear that if I don't eventually migrate from my Pioneer Elite VSX-07-based setup to a separates system, I will lose the ability to enjoy some exciting new technologies (should they ever impact the market like Dolby Digital has) in the near future.

I guess I just wanted your thought's on whether or not is a mistake to bother going with an integrated home theater receiver, when the new formats and technologies that are arising may not even be able to plug into the back of that receiver (the VSX-07 only has 3 digital inputs, I'm already using two and I don't even have a satellite).

I'll shut up, this another discussion for another forum.
