Coax Cables for Digital hook-up Posted by Ken on October 05, 1998 at 15:13:31: In Reply to: Coax Cables for Digital hook-up posted by Nigel on October 05, 1998 at 13:47:07: Thanks for the reply, So for both the AC-3 RF out and the digital out, I can use 75-ohm digital coax cable. (By the way, is RF out technically a true digital out?) As Stuart noted, analogue connects maybe necessary to listen to commentary tracks. How does that work with a unit like the DSP-A1? The A1 recognizes inputs according to a published hierarchy (optical, coax, S-video, and then RCA). If it "sees" a coax connect for the LD input, it will no longer look for a RCA connect. It seems I could no longer enjoy analogue commentary (which I seldom use anyway, but I like the option). Perhaps, I could just send analogue RCA into the back of my TV for such events? : Similarly for DVD hook up - use digital outputs/inputs for audio. For that matter, I pressume that RCA out from DVD player to input of TV could also allow me to view DVD's without having to always have my receiver on. This would only be useful when watching movies very late at night.
