Meh,

: I need to replace my HT system and wanted to know what the latest version or chip for DPL is and what I should be looking for.

Forget about the engine used to decode Pro-logic, it makes little or no difference these days. Competent Pro-logic engines are cheap and you can find them in budget components. The analogue circuitry on either side of the decoder will make far more difference to the sonic performance of the system.

: But I can not find good recent preamps with DPL.

There are quite a number depending on how much you wish to spend. Why not purchase a processor that can be upgraded step-by-step to THX, Dolby Digital and DTS - such as the base version of the Lexicon DC-1.

If you want my opinion, you'll be far happier with a pre-amplifier and associated amplifiers in the future rather than using a receiver as a pre-amp.

Stuart.
