Banana Plugs

For some amps/receivers you do not have a choice- their binding posts will only accept bananas (particularly those meeting EC regulations, I think), others will accept bare wire, spade lugs or bananas, so it depends to some extent on your amp's binding posts.

At the end of the day what you are after is a reliable connection and for me spade lugs or bananas are the most reliable. If your speaker cables are not already temrinated with them (most manufacturers offer a choice of terminations), you can install them yourself. They range from the twist-on variety (they work a bit like a wire nut), to crimp-ons and ones that require soldering.
