Receiver Problems?

It sounds to me like you have had a output transistor failure in the right channel. When a transistor fails you don't always have a lot of smoke followed by the receiver shutting down. Your Pioneer features a discrete output stage so the offending transistor can be replaced (and the complement to it should be replaced at the same time I feel). Before you take it into the shop for repair, try a pair of headphones with the speakers off and in regular stereo and listen as the down side is that you may spend $100 or more repairing a $200 receiver.
