Putting screws into speakers???

Posted by pasqual zottola [IP: 199.248.252.3] on November 25, 1998 at 13:01:51:

I have a Cerwin Vega HT speaker configuration. The front and rear speakers are bookshelf sized, but have no provision for a speaker mount. Can I just screw something onto the back of the speaker cabinet, or will that affect its sound? I think that they're made of 3/8" particle board, so I know that I should use short screws. I heard of these metal cylinders that allow you to drill a hole in wood, then sgugly fit these cylinders into the hole, the cylinders have a threaded hole in them and come with matcjing screws. Would this be better or worse that simply tapping screws into the wood? Are there other ways to mount small speakers without drilling into them? Thanks for any help!
