Paul,
Correction...
I said "80" programmable keys in the LCD area... Actually, there are 320 available keys... ( 4 screens for each function X 8 keys per screen X 10 functions = 320)
I am currently using 63 of these, plus the standard set of buttons for each function on the hard keys.

: Paul,
: I also have an Echostar IR receiver, plus 2 VCR's, Sourround AMP, TV, & Cassette Tape unit.
: After condiderable research, I just purchased the MKII. I looked at the LCD only units like the Pronto, but decided on the RC2000 MKII. The LCD units look neat but have some drawbacks...
: 1. Since there are no buttons, you ALWAYS have to look at the remote before "pressing" a "button".
: 2. Althought there are multiple screens for different functions, you cannot rename the lables that are displayed.
: 3. There are not nearly as many programmable keys as the RC2000 has.
: The RC2000 MKII allows you to rename the labels for some 80 functions located in the LCD display area, as well as program the standard key set with anything you wish.
: This unit is layed out very nicely, with the most logical functions assigned to hard keys, and allows you to assign your "device specific" commands to the LCD area.
: I had no problems programming any of the remote functions and macros into this unit. Most of the commands were imported into the MKII via a much older programmable remote that I have, but I still needed to use the individual remotes to assign commands that I hadn't incorporated into the old remote.
: Although the remote is heavy, and not the most comfortable to hold in your hand, in my opinion, it provides for the most versatility and customization.
: I would highly endorse the RC2000 MKII.

: PS. I bought mine through mail order at
: www.onecall.com
: .. for $ 209 which includes Fedex 2-day shipping.

:
: : What is the best learning remote for use with Dish Network(Echostar) IR receivers???
: : I am considering the Marantz RC2000 MKII and the Philips Pronto....but any remote in that price range will be considered.

: : Thanks for any help.
