RC2000 MK-II two questions... Posted by Nigel [IP: 206.241.18.4] on December 02, 1998 at 13:27:13: In Reply to: RC2000 MK-II two questions... posted by Ed Kuhlman on November 29, 1998 at 10:25:43: Ed In fact the RC2000 Mark II programmning is stored in non-volatile memory so will not be lost even when the batteries are completely dead. The mark I however, as well as being much more power hungry, coud lose programming if you did not change the batteries soon after the low power warning. : If you had to reprogram these devices after changing batteries, I doubt anyone would buy a programmable remote. Gad... just the thought of that scares me. :) You got that right! One of the main reasons I bought the mark II even though I already had the mark I was the better power usage and management of the mark II. Just a couple of other points on your original post. Marantz do sell an IR to RF conveter that attaches to the front of the Rc2000, but I have no experience of how it works or how much it costs. On your problem with the seemingly low power of the unit to your receiver, it could be that the IR sensor in your receiver has a narrow angle of operation, rather than the remote not being powerful enough. I can point mine at 90 degrees to my cabinet and most things still respond.
