Splicing speaker wire

Hmmm... crimping is usually OK for a while, but later on it usually starts to corrode due to metal incompatibility or even chemicalls present nearby (for one, amonium vapours from house paint can do amazing things), the junction resistance increases and there goes your signal quality. If you know how to hold a soldering iron, solder it (or ask a friend to do it for you). You will probably need a heavy duty sold. iron, and whatever you do, don't use any acidic flux on it. It eats the cable slowly away. Good luck.
