Pondering Digital Cable

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; formatnec; DigExt):

My cable company (TCI, now AT+T) offers digital cable for tons less than DSS, and it has a box with S-Vid and Digital out.

Any experience? Is it truly superior video quality (500 lines+)? Are movies in clear 5.1?

I know that only a few movies right now are in Dolby Digital, but the list is growing. I just want to know if it truly rivals DSS in picture and sound...
