does silver ICs have any benefit for HT?

I've NEVER heard of "silver" ICs. If you're referring to ICs with SILVER-PLATED leads, then I have to say they'll make ABSOLUTELY ZERO DIFFERENCE, especially if they're SOLDERED to the mainboard (the solder will STRIP-OFF the silver plating during the wetting/bonding process). Besides, silver is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE (not as expensive as gold - but that's another topic altogether... ;) ) and, IMHO, not worth the $$$ expenditure for a dubious (and subjective) performance "improvement". :) Given that silver is THE BEST CONDUCTOR in the world, it's no reason to make it a "prime factor" in buying anything. Besides, the great conductivity of silver is offset by its' ease of being corroded (i.e. tarnishng). Therefore, silver is best suited for EXTREMELY LOW-RESISTANCE applications, or use in a VACUUM or in a "non-oxidizing" atmosphere (i.e. nitrogen or similar "noble" gas), or in a hermetically-sealed package filled with nitrogen (or noble gas). That's my few bytes... :) Ken
