does silver ICs have any benefit for HT?

As for pure silver interconnects: my OPINION is they're only good for LIGHTENING THE WALLET (big time!!!), increasing one's "penis factor" (i.e. bragging rights), and "assuaging the soul" (making one think he/she "has the best, etc.).

As for copper: as long as it's kept from oxidizers (i.e. AIR), it's still the best general-use conductor around. That's why you should either:
* SOLDER TIN exposed wires
* CRIMP the ends into suitable terminals (i.e. pins, lugs)
* SECURE THEM into other termnals (i.e. screw-mount banana plugs)
* put the exposed end into any other "enclosed, gas-tight" terminal

Above all: WASH YOUR HANDS before handling (minimize oils, etc.) and MINIMIZE SKIN CONTACT with exposed copper wire ends and NEVER, EVER use "spit" on finely-stranded wire for "increasing conduction"! :)
