Picture problem on TV

I'm betting the "white spot" will "move" if you reposition the VCR and reduce in size/fade away if you move it AWAY from the TV. Since the problem doesn't seem to happen in other video "modes" (from your input), it's a safe bet the VCR's POWER TRANSFORMER is "clobbering" the TV screen, essentially magnetically "erasing" the picture (hence, the "white spot"). The best way to verify this is to connect the "suspect" CR to another TV. Place the VCR in "the same spot" with the "test" TV as it usually is with your Sony, and see if the "test" TV gets "spotted". If it does, the VCR is indeed at fault (again, reposition it to see if the spot "moves" or reduces/fades with the "test" TV). If the TV doesn't "spot", the what you have is a TV that's EXTREMELY SENSITIVE to magnetic fields. If this is the case, more "drastic" measures are required: repositioning the VCR AWAY from the TV (within reason), the use of a "Mu-Metal" shield 'tween the VCR and TV, etc. That's all I can suggest, based on your information, info I've gathered from others, and "personal experience". :) Ken
