One of my systems is totally silver wired, ICs, speaker wires, internal wires in the speakers, major signal wires in the amp and preamp. One copper IC audibly reduces the extension in both bass and treble and dirties the midrange. I realize this is an extreme case, but i had to do it to prove to myself and others that it makes a difference. Copper (even OFC) ICs hide a lot of detail that is apparent even if you just replace the one IC between your CD, DVD, or HIFI VCR. I've heard the 6% advantage, but i personally think that is a who cares. The metal just lets more of whatever (sound, signal, music, etc) come thru. YMMV :-)
