Hi

The only silver voice coils i'm aware of are in lowther's. I'm still looking
for a set of silver inductors for the
xovers that i can afford as they need
to be large (large horns at 500hz).

The comparison has been going on for
months. The participants are of both
genders and mainly musicians, both acoustic and electric. Good players
ears are tuned for subtle nuances that
most people don't even notice.
We've done dozens of tests of swapping back and forth, blind tests, etc. We've
used tube amps (SET, Triode wired PP, and an OTL(which is almost a DC to light amp) and a couple of SS amps (QUAD and a Sony integrated).

The copper wires sound good, but some details just disappear when using copper that are apparent when using silver. Right now we're trying on finding the best dielectric, because by accident we found out that teflon screws up the sound more than just using 'air' (yes an uninsulated interconnect, that was fun!). The leaders of high end (Japanese) won't allow teflon in their high end (read non consumer) amps because they said it makes the sound sound synthetic (i have to agree). They use cotton, i did too, but have to look for an alternative in order to fend off the CAT. it's been an eyeopening experience overall. Two years ago i laughed at the notion that wires would make any difference at all. Of course, everyones ears are different. the only way to find out is to try it. if you can't tell the difference, don't
bother. The rockers in the bunch (due
to years of LOUD amps) heard the bass
extension, but not the highes. Some just said it sounded clearer, but couldn't tell anything else. Others jaws dropped. The only thing consistant
was it was different for just about everyone. Anyway, this hobby is just to
have fun, so have some fun and good listening to you.
