As I have said before, people should just try them and form their own opinion. Thats why i have brought in dozens of people (not all at once!) to listen and judge for themselves. On good equiptment, the change is very noticeable. Deeper, purer bass, cleaner extended highes, lots more midrange detail. I constantly hear the comment 'i've had this CD for years and i've never hear that (ie drum part, background voice, doubled instrument, studio noise etc.) before'. That and 'you can tell what kind of room that the group was in' (mainly for live or one shot recordings). After hearing this for months from both friends and strangers, you get the feeling that you're on the right track. At this point in time, there are quite a few companies that offer silver cables (a lot actually), some offer 30 day money back offers. Some are outrageously over-priced, but none of them would be in business if they didn't have a decent product and didn't show a profit or at least break even. i was a total skeptic just a short time ago, just imagine wire makes a difference in a system. Now, i know everything makes a difference, you just have to sort out which has the greatest payback (if any). I'm having fun, i've got a system that transports me to a different place, just like a good movie or a book can. i guess the post was made wondering why the HT segment ignores (or maybe just not aware) another way to improve their experience. no more or less. I, for one, would rather know from personal experience, than to just wonder from others experience (if it interests me, of course). OTOH, life is simpler if you just go with the flow (i could get a whole HT setup for the price of one of my speakers, enjoy 2d sound that would fatigue me, so i would shut it off and do something else (just kidding)). been there, done that, won't/can't go back. sound should have flesh, blood, body and soul, not flash, sizzle and plastic. YMMV ;-) Good luck in your choices as they are your choices and not making a choice is a choice.
