New DVD Player or Pre/Pro

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 95; DigExt):

I am contemplating an upgrade. My budget is approximately $2,000. My current equipment is listed below. My dilemma is in choosing which upgrade path to follow.

My current audio to home theater ratio is about 60/40. Consequently, my primary objective for now is to improve audio (on both CDs and DVD). I am happy with my speakers, interconnects, cables and the Marantz amplifiers (I have the five MA 500s that I would need with a new preamp, although I can currently only use three with the Denon receiver). Specifically, I have been thinking about the following options:

1. Replace the Denon DVD 2000 with a Denon DVD 5000;
2. Replace the Denon AVR 3200 with a Classe’ SSP-25 Pre/Pro;
3. Replace the Denon AVR 3200 with a used Lexicon DC-1.

Do you think I would see a more dramatic improvement in audio quality with a change in the DVD player or with a replacement of the receiver with a pre/pro?

I realize I will need to replace both to have DTS capability but, rather than compromise and spend the available funds to buy a lesser quality DVD player and pre/amp, I would rather buy better equipment and spread the upgrade out over time.

I would appreciate any thoughts, guidance or suggestions you can give me.

Thanks in advance. Bob
