Bad humm when connecting pc to Yamaha reciever?

Using Mozilla/4.7 [en] (Win98; U):

I have a mx300 sound card in my pc and when i hook it up to my aux input on amp there is a lot of humm and it sounds terrible. The cable is good cause i checked it out to my shelf stereo(hooked up to my pc and all sounds good). Any ideas anyone????
