Pop the top on your PC and locate your sound card. With your sound card's Installation Manual open to the page detailing all the JUMPER BLOCKS on the card, locate the two blocks that DISABLE the card's built-in amplifier. Move the jumpers to the DISABLE position - this will instead route UNAMPLIFIED, LINE-LEVEL SIGNALS to the speaker output jack. Re-connect your interface cable. Make sure you plug the card into the SPEAKER output jack, and not the MICROPHONE INPUT jack (they're the same size and type)! Next, fire-up your sound card's MIXER PROGRAM and set the card's "gain" factor to "x2" or "x1". This will ensire any "garbage" from the card's DACs won't be overly-amplified along with the desired signal. This is how I have my Sound Blaster 16 configured feeding my external amplifier and IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY! Ken
