Coax vs Toslink for digital data

Posted by Martin Conley [IP: 192.11.223.97] on October 14, 1999 at 13:46:33
Using Mozilla/4.6 [en] (WinNT; U):

My DVD/LD (Pioneer DVL-919) player has both Coax and Toslink output and my receiver (Pioneer VSX-26TX) has both types of inputs. Which is better? Or are they both equal? Also, is having true 75 ohm cabling important for the digital data? Markertek's Canare cables are the only advertised true 75 ohm cables I have found. Are they a wise purchase? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
