Diplexer signal degradation

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt):
Please give me me some advice. I use an eight way voltage swith to distribute DSS signal to various receivers around the house. The unit also diplexes a cable signal for the local stations. The degration of the cable signal, not the digital, is terrible. I tried changing to a different voltage switch but noted no improvement. I am wondering if the cable co. might be putting out a very powerful signal in need of attenuation or something like that. Any ideas?
